Setting up payments

Taking a deposit at checkout is entirely optional, and it’s one of the best ways to cut down on no-shows. This is the whole process, start to finish — it’s shorter than it looks.

Would you rather not take payments online at all? That’s completely fine — online booking works perfectly well with nothing set up here. Clients can book and pay you in person as normal. Feel free to skip this guide entirely.

The short version

Go to Admin → Payments and click Connect with Stripe. You’ll be taken to Stripe to sign in or create an account, then straight back to SalonDo — no keys, webhook URLs or signing secrets to find or paste in anywhere.

01

Click Connect with Stripe

From Admin → Payments, click Connect with Stripe. If you don’t already have a Stripe account, you can create one right there — it’s free. Stripe only takes a small percentage per transaction when you actually get paid, and that fee goes straight to Stripe, not to us.

02

Follow Stripe’s setup

Stripe will ask a few questions about your business so it can pay out to your bank account directly. Once that’s done, you’re redirected straight back to your SalonDo dashboard, already connected.

03

Set your deposit

Back in Admin → Payments, choose a deposit type (a flat amount or a percentage of the service price) and how much, then tick “Take a deposit at checkout” and save.

04

That’s it — deposits are live

From here, clients booking online will be asked for a deposit at checkout, paid straight into your own connected Stripe account. SalonDo never holds or touches your money — we don’t take a cut, and we can’t access your Stripe balance. You can turn deposits off at any time by unticking the same checkbox.

A couple of things worth knowing

  • Refunding a deposit after a cancellation is done in your own Stripe dashboard — SalonDo doesn’t issue refunds automatically. See the FAQ for more on cancellations.
  • You can open your connected Stripe dashboard any time from the Payments page in SalonDo — that’s where you’ll see payouts, balances and transaction history.
  • Need to switch to a different Stripe account? Click “Reconnect a different account” on the Payments page — it’s the same Connect flow, and swaps over cleanly.
